What’s the best thing about working here?

The people – I have worked for Pets at Home for less than 12 months and from day one everyone makes you feel welcome and as part of a family.

Describe the culture

Busy! There is always something happening as we are constantly working to make things better for our customers and ultimately their pets.

What do you get up to on a typical day/week?

I run the Buddy training team at the NDC so we take care of the learning needs of all warehouse colleagues. From the rolling out of SOPs to all colleagues, to coaching to improve performance and training new starters… and everything in between.

Tell us about the learning and development?

Aside from the work we do in the warehouse with training colleagues in new areas, Peta at Home run many development programmes for colleagues through every level. Moving on up for future managers. Rising stars for those who want to improve in their roles. Taking the lead – for future senior managers.

What opportunities are there for career progression?

Many opportunities. We have senior managers who started as warehouse staff. We run warehouse to wheels for those who want to progress to HGV driving roles. There are also other ways to progress your career if management isn’t your path, such as store support, stock control, quality teams and training.

Tell us about the rewards and benefits?

Birthday holiday, life works, treats and discounts, day off to move, day off when you adopt a new pet, half day off to take your child to their first day at school, Easter eggs, selection box at Christmas and Nibbles board scheme.

How does Pets at Home give back to the community?

Charity days, charity collections, family fun days, recruitment in local community.

Describe working here in one word
