What’s the best thing about working here?

The family feel to the business.

Describe the culture

We are professional and passionate about what we are doing but we have fun while we are doing it.

What do you get up to on a typical day/week?

My days are spent recruiting for our Retail Managers in the store network. This involves advertising roles, reviewing applications, interviewing candidates and making offers.

Tell us about the learning and development?

We have some great schemes that support our colleagues to develop their careers further. In particular, we have the Rising Stars scheme that is designed to support our Store Colleagues to develop into Assistant Managers to then develop into Deputy Managers.

What opportunities are there for career progression?

All of our vacancies are advertised internally and applications are welcomed from our colleagues, whether they are looking to progress from their current roles or looking to branch out into a different area. For me personally, I have the opportunity to progress myself as the business will support me to gain further qualifications in my field. I’m actually booked to go on additional training next week that will widen my skillset and allow me to have a greater impact on the business.

Tell us about the rewards and benefits?

I think our benefits are great. Things like an extra day off for your birthday, additional time off for ‘life events’ such as moving house and your child’s first day at school. Even 20% discount in store. We are a company that like to look after our colleagues.

How does Pets at Home give back to the community?

Charity plays a big part in what we do here at Pets at Home. We raise a lot of money for various charities, in particular Support Adoption for Pets and as part of our benefits we can take a day a year to go out and volunteer.

Describe working here in one word

Enjoyable.
