Packaging Project Executive

Reporting to: Packaging Artwork Manager

Location: Hybrid role with 3 days in our Handforth office each week with (Wednesday as a mandatory office day)

About your role:

Under supervision from the Packaging Artwork Manager, you will ensure on time and effective delivery of packaging projects for which you are responsible. You will achieve this through taking responsibility of packaging from concept to launch; and ensuring that you align with the CPA process to deliver on time and in full.

You will be measured on ensuring that packaging concepts are both fit for purpose and also align with business strategy in terms of innovation, quality and sustainability and delivery of this is through close working relations with both the internal NPD and product technologists, but also through in-depth knowledge of supplier processes – both design agencies, manufacturers and also printers.

Your knowledge of competitor set, in categories for which you are responsible, should be up to date, comprehensive and detailed – and you should be able to defend Pets at Home propositions through effective and regular benchmarking results.

About your responsibilities

In this role, to achieve the overall above purpose, you will:

• Develop Innovative Packaging Concepts in line with agreed BSM targets.
• Develop Packaging Specification criteria at Briefing stage, so that product technologists can monitor these with suppliers and implement accordingly.
• Ensure accuracy of cutter guides, material type and finish across categories where you are responsible.
• Provide comprehensive artwork briefs to agencies and ensure that these are delivered accurately in line with business requirements, and that this takes account of layout, text positioning, range hierarchy and segmentation.
• Ensure mockups and any new concepts are produced for final sign off and any product showcases that are required by the business.
• Regular Market and Competitor analysis and maintained benchmarking portfolio for categories of responsibility.
• Full ownership of artwork sign off with both internal product team and external supplier teams, including approval of colour standards to be supplied to printers and sign off of digital and physical print proofs for content, quality and colour consistency
• Attendance at photoshoots where requested to ensure sign off in line with expectations
• Ownership of FTP dates for areas of responsibility
• Organise and run pre-production meetings with suppliers, agency and printers to ensure the best possible outcome of print production. Focusing on correct file setup across different formats and print processes.
• Post launch review analysis of packaging performance and suitability
• Packaging developed in line with sustainability and legislative targets.
• Work within artwork budget set
• Work within required KPI’s for your area

About You – knowledge and experience

Ideally, you will bring to this role:

• 1+ years’ experience of working within packaging development/artwork role
• Ideally Degree of equivalent qualifications in packaging, or technology related field
• Experience of managing packaging projects across supply chains
• Knowledge of end-to-end manufacturing from raw materials, into process, packaging, and print delivery
• Experience of spreadsheet trackers and project management tools.
• Ability to work flexibly and at pace

• Highly organized and able to multi-task.
