About your role


To lead the Infrastructure Delivery Team to deliver technology infrastructure change and support business change to IT services, components and integrations not hosted on public cloud. 


Key Responsibilities Include

  • Definition of non-public cloud technology infrastructure standards (where appropriate)
  • Compliance with non-public cloud technology infrastructure standards
  • Assessment, acceptance, integration and adoption of planned changes to the non-public cloud technology infrastructure
  • Delivery of change to the non-public cloud technology infrastructure
  • Patch assessment, acceptance, integration and adoption for the non-public cloud technology infrastructure
  • Maintenance release and update assessment, acceptance, integration and adoption for the non-public cloud technology infrastructure
  • Shift left approach to enable 1st and 2nd line support and IT operations to provide effective support and minimise the use of 3rd line for non-public cloud technology infrastructure
  • 3rd line support for the non-public cloud technology infrastructure during in operational hours and out of hours through on call structure
  • Definition of a team structure and roles for the infrastructure delivery team based on business and technology requirements
  • Line management of the infrastructure delivery team members
  • Development of the infrastructure delivery team members in relation to performance and career development
  • Identification of improvement opportunities to improve non-public cloud technology infrastructure and/or the infrastructure delivery team including skills, knowledge, tooling and automation
  • Representation of non-public cloud technology infrastructure in business and technology forums to educate forums on the role of infrastructure delivery, challenge where appropriate and assess the impact of planned changes
  • Work alongside the Head of IT Service Management & Operations and peer colleagues as part of a leadership group to provide an effective IT service management and operations capability for the group  
  • Deputise for the Head of IT Service Management & Operations


Essential Experience and Skills

 

  • Non-public cloud technology infrastructure change delivery in a large enterprise
  • Non-public cloud technology infrastructure support
  • IT service management principles
  • Supplier management
  • Managing technical teams
  • Team performance management
  • Team career development plan management
  • Technology experience including a number of: 
  • local, wireless and wide area networks
  • physical and virtual servers, and operating systems 
  • storage, back-up and restore, and archive
  • middleware and integration (message bus, file transfer, api,) 
  • end user devices (desktop, laptop, tablet, handheld)
  • infrastructure security (firewalls, intrusion prevention, data loss protection, anti-virus / malware, encryption at rest / in transit) 
  • management tools and dashboards  

Desirable Experience 

  • Non-public cloud technology infrastructure change delivery in a large retail enterprise
  • Public cloud product and service principles across software as service, platform as a service and infrastructure as a service
