People Services Assistant – Six Months Fixed Term

We are looking for a People Services Assistant to join us initially on a six month fixed term contract to work within our People Team at our Support Office in Handforth, Cheshire. You will report into the Head of People Services and be responsible for providing an exceptional People Service across the Pets at Home retail stores and Support Office.

Working as part of the People Services Team in a busy fast paced environment, this role is responsible for the colleague administration processes and you will ensure all documentation is dealt with efficiently whilst ensuring compliance with audit requirements. You will be responsible for ensuring colleague data is accurate from the moment our colleagues start, through to promotions, transfers and leavers.

This is a great opportunity to work with our soon to be launched new HRIS system and be part of implementing this across the business; an exciting chance to get involved and support us in making this a great success.

As part of the wider team you will also support the People Advisor team in handling general enquiries through the inbox, developing your broader HR knowledge.

The role requires excellent IT skills with a very good working knowledge of Microsoft programmes and SAP HR so you can confidently work with data produce reports.

You will enjoy working to deadlines and be able to manage a variety of tasks and deadlines, so managing your time and being organized is key. Confidence and strong communication skills are essential along with the ability to be a key team player and build working relationships quickly and effectively.

With handling data it is necessary to be accurate and have good attention to detail. In an ever changing environment you will be comfortable with changing priorities and be able to respond quickly to requests.


  • Working knowledge of SAP HR.
  • Fundamental understanding of Employment Law, specifically in relation to Eligibility to Work in the UK and Statutory requirements.
  • Experience of working with an HR services environment.
  • CIPD Level 3 Qualified (or above).
