We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join us as an Online Activation Executive, working within our highly motivated and results driven Online Trading Team. The role will be based from our Support Office in Handforth, Cheshire.

The Online Activation Executive will report in to the Channel Manager for either food or accessory categories. The candidate will work with the Channel Manager to deliver the following:

Key Responsibilities:

Brand activation:

  • Manage certain marketing campaigns on the website – bringing both our own brand and branded initiatives to life;
  • Make sure we are aligned to all other channels across the business for key marketing campaigns;
  • Support creative project delivery from briefing stage to onsite installation, communicating and following up on all aspects of development and execution;
  • Manage the online promotional activity plan, liaising with the design, stock and digital communication teams to launch seamlessly;
  • Manage specific brand content across the website in line with the overall marketing strategy;
  • Manage relationships with our key suppliers. This will include meeting them regularly to discuss key campaign launches and managing their marketing spend effectively to support online activity;
  • Develop effective and productive working relationships with cross functional teams within the business, and ensure that our trading strategy and customer delivery is fully aligned;
  • Monitor competition and industry online trends and share internally with key stakeholders;
  • Gather data / analysis for the channel / category performance against KPI’s and report as required;

Digital responsibilities:

  • The candidate will need to focus on the overall customer experience online for their categories, working closely with the wider digital team to optimise the customer journey wherever possible;
  • Support the seamless customer journey strategy, allowing a customer to shop whenever and wherever;
  • Focus on driving conversion – this could be through product assortment, pricing or category merchandising. There will be a focus on trialing, testing, learning and sharing results from all new initiatives. This aspect of the role will be analytics and results driven;
  • Work with the digital marketing team on initiatives to drive awareness of your categories and key brands externally to help drive traffic to Petsathome.com;
  • Collaborate with the online optimisation team to set up relevant cross sells and upsells for your products driving overall basket spend. You will also work with this team to optimise sales from search;
  • Work collaboratively with the social team to look for opportunities to drive sales and engagement with the Pets at Home brand;

Commercial responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the buying team to ensure we achieve online sales and margin targets as laid out in the Business Plan;
  • With our customer first mindset it is key that we use onsite analytics to understand customer behaviour – this should be used to feed in to the wider category strategy and we should constantly be looking for ways to optimise this journey to drive conversion and AOV and in turn sales and profit;
  • This role requires the candidate to be the channel expert for the buying team, constantly reviewing what is happening in the wider digital market, understand how this may impact us and looking for ways to improve and grow with a focus on commercial viability;
  • Manage the range review process for your online categories, adhering to the critical path to ensure products launch on time and are aligned to store. You will also use the range review process to look for opportunities to enhance the current offering online – this could be through improving product imagery, content, looking at category sequencing and navigation;
  • Support the core trading team in online trials across ranges and promotional mechanics;
  • Create effective promotional plans, analysing and sharing results in a timely fashion;
  • Monitor price movements in the market and react accordingly to support our value strategy;
  • Subscription services are critically important to our strategy. We currently offer an “easy repeat” subscription service across food and accessories. This role will also be responsible for monitoring and maintaining our Easy Repeat proposition – this will involve amending pricing and discount mechanics as well as liaising with our stock teams to ensure we offer the best experience for our customers;

Skills Required:

  • The online environment is fast paced and candidate must be able to react at pace to any opportunities and be able to prioritise their workload to deliver the most impactful results;
  • We need someone who is creative, can spot commercial opportunities and react quickly to deliver results;
  • The candidate should have both a commercial and analytical eye, with keen attention to detail; excel skills are a must to be able to manipulate and showcase data;
  • The successful candidate will have previous experience of working within a fast moving, retail environment and will preferably have digital experience;
  • You will be able to demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively, both within and outside of the organisation as well as having negotiating experience;
  • You will be keen to learn from others and engage help from across the business which will enable you to both develop yourself as well as the role;
  • Understanding of GA360 would be beneficial, but training can be given;
