We’re looking for an enthusiastic Visual Merchandiser to join our Support Office team in Handforth, to engage and inspire our customers, in an exciting time of fast paced range and store change. Reporting into the Senior Merchandiser, you will be responsible for driving the most effective and profitable use of retail space. This role will cover all categories working alongside other departments and existing visual merchandising colleagues, you will develop customer focused Planograms for all our stores.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working within the Visual Merchandising Team reporting into Senior Visual Merchandiser, you will own the production and maintenance of Planograms using our Spaceman Merchandising System.
  • Guided by our Pets at Home Merchandising Principles you will apply a creative, customer focused approach to producing all new merchandising plans across various categories.
  • Always ensuring that relevant market research, customer and supplier data is fully utilised to maximise the effectiveness of the assigned project.
  • Using data enabler software, take ownership to interrupt internal sales & profit data to support intelligent decision making across all Planograms to maximise their commercial return.
  • Working within tight deadlines you will work alongside Buying, Marketing, Supply Chain, Macro Space and Retail department colleagues to produce high quality Planograms; taking input from numerous business metrics to develop the best merchandising solution for our stores and customers.
  • Effectively manage allocated project space within our onsite Visual Merchandising Warehouse in line with safe operating procedures.

Skills / Competencies Required:

  • The successful candidate must have previous experience of carrying out a Visual Merchandiser or Space Planning role, ideally gained within a leading UK retailer.
  • They must have experience of using 'Micro-Space Planning' software such as Spaceman, JDA, Galleria, etc.
  • The successful candidate must have good PC Skills preferably working knowledge of modern merchandising software packages and be comfortable with spreadsheet and data manipulation.
  • The successful candidate will be a strong team player, who is able to form positive, productive working relationships within a fast paced retail environment and is not afraid to deal with conflict or confront others when problems occur
  • The successful candidate will be a self-starter who is highly organised, happy to independently manage and prioritise workload across multiple projects.
  • They will be capable of making key business decisions and communicate them directly to the cross functional project team.
  • In this varied job role, the ideal candidate will enjoy the challenge of taking the lead in driving real innovation and change in retail, across a diverse range of project work, whilst keeping up to date with retail trends and activity, new equipment solutions and industry knowledge.
  • They will be highly organised, dynamic and flexible individual who thrives in a fast paced environment.
  • Be a key advocate and spokesperson to engage and present to wider business teams at all levels of management
  • Communicates simply and clearly to small or large groups, confidently challenges, negotiates and influences other decision makers
  • A mix of commercial awareness and creative flair is vital, understanding the impact and opportunities to enhance commercial results
