About the role

The Solutions Architect proactively and holistically supports architecture activities that deliver solutions for the portfolio of initiatives prioritised against for desired business outcomes. Solutions include projects, products, systems (including applications, technologies, processes and information), infrastructure and applications.

The Solutions Architect has a deep understanding of business goals, objective and business outcomes, business capabilities, value-streams, and business processes. They provide the necessary leadership, analysis and design tasks related to support the development of technology solutions to ensure that solutions meet business needs and align with architectural governance and standards. They create deliverables for managing Pets at Home portfolio of "to be" and "as is" solutions

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand business drivers and business capabilities (future and current state) and determines corresponding system designs and change requirements to drive Pets at Home’s prioritised targeted business outcomes.
  • Understand emerging technology trends and disruptions and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies to enable new and evolving business and operating models.
  • Translate business and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint to achieve business objectives and documents all solution architecture design and analysis work.
  • Act as a consultant on a broad range of technologies, platforms and vendor offerings to drive targeted business outcomes
  • Lead evaluation, design and analysis for the implementation of a solutions architecture aligned to prioritised needs and aligned to set architecture standards.
  • Create architectural designs to guide and contextualise solution development across products, services, projects and systems (including applications, technologies, processes and information).
  • Design solutions with a broader scope of projects or products in mind.
  • Facilitate the evaluation and selection of solutions that meet the prioritised needs of the business.
  • Support product managers in EOL (end of life) product decisions to maintain, refresh or retire products, services or systems (including applications, technologies, processes and information).
  • Recognise the organisational impact (for example, on skills, processes, structures or culture) and financial impact of the solutions.
  • Oversee the delivery of solutions through the change delivery lifecycle
  • Work closely with the portfolio and lead architects to ensure the execution of plans corresponds with what is being promised throughout the project or product lifecycle
  • Present gap analyses and/or IT investment roadmaps that reflect the status of the existing IT estate and its ability to contribute to prioritised future-state business capabilities as the line for the domain area.
  • Lead analysis of the IT environment for the domain to detect critical risk and debt and ensures there are recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop and applies standards and minimal viable architectures for the domain and ensure architecture can be a focal point for facilitating agile, effective and efficient decision making.
  • Collaborate with delivery teams to ensure consistency within the architecture, to leverage shared technologies, tools and processes for efficiency and speed of delivery.
  • Oversee the documentation of architecture design and analysis work thus ensuring that key roadmaps and architecture deliverables for the domains are sufficiently up to date and in place.
