About the role

As a DevOps Engineer, you will work within our Pet Care Analytics Group (PCAG) function and hold responsibility for supporting our teams that are responsible for data analytics platform improvement, data visualisation and customer communication to design and build bitbucket CI/CD workflows.

You’ll develop and maintain scripts for the automated deployment of critical resources within the GCP cloud environment for the Analytics platform and assist other developers in automating GCP resource creation.

Further key Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining CI runners for Python, and Go to support developers
  • Readiness and maintenance of production environments, including but not limited to capture log data into central repository, implementing effective monitoring and subsequent alerting
  • Working closely with key stakeholders to enable seamless deployment of new products and services
  • Taking a key lead on the management of infrastructure with the GCP estate
  • Being a driving force behind improving and maturing the Analytics Platform

About your experience

You’ll be an experienced DevOps Engineer that has worked in cloud dev ops such as Google, AWS or Azure and has a background of software engineering, all from within a commercial environment.

You’ll have built robust digital services by utilising Docker and Terraform and have experience of using git version control systems, including automation tooling.

Further key experience/attributes/tech skills includes;

  • Varied experience in defining, designing and running CI Pipeline using tools like bitbucket pipelines
  • Knowledge of release management processes, experience supporting regular releases
  • Experience of testing modern DevOps Implementations
  • Experience of troubleshooting infrastructure/ops issues alone and with teams
  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to express issues to other technical and non-technical people
  • Experience in scripting languages like Python, Go, or Bash
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
  • Experience in deploying resources to Cloud platforms such as AWS and GCP
  • Experience in configuring containers and orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker) would be useful
  • Ability to complete root cause analysis on system issues
  • Experience in defining automation that can be deployed on multiple platforms preventing vendor lock-in is desirable
  • Experience using artefact storage is desirable
