Location: Remote and Support Office (Handforth OR Swindon)

Contract: Permanent

Salary: Competitive

About the role

This role will lead Information Security for the Pets at Home group. Responsible for implementing and running the enterprise information security program, this role will identify, evaluate and report on legal and regulatory, IT, and cybersecurity risk to information assets, while supporting and advancing business objectives.

This is a fantastic opportunity to shape and lead an InfoSec function. Building on solid progress to date, there is a real opportunity to accelerate a range of projects and capabilities, making real improvements and advancements within Information Security.

This role forms part of our senior leadership team, working strategically with our executive management to determine acceptable levels of risk for the organisation. Equally, the role will be responsible for operationalising this strategy, ensuring information assets and associated technology, applications, systems, infrastructure and processes are adequately protected in the digital ecosystem in which we operate.

The successful Head of Information Security will:

  • Work proactively across business units and ecosystem partners to implement practices that meet agreed-on policies and standards for information security.
  • Be highly visible. This role will operate in a real people facing capacity across a diverse set of stakeholders, from participation in executive meetings, to company wide presentations and attendance at audit and risk committees.
  • Educate, coach and influence colleagues. Experience within change management is fundamental to this role.

In addition to providing thought leadership and extensive Information Security expertise, this role will also be responsible for team management (both direct and matrix), development of security frameworks and operational management (budgets, incident response, disaster recovery and asset management).

About your experience

We are looking for a pragmatic and visionary InfoSec leader, who can offer sound knowledge of business management, in addition to a working knowledge of cybersecurity, covering the corporate network as well as the broader digital ecosystem.

Building on your success within a senior leadership capacity across risk, information and IT security, it is highly likely that you’ll be excited by an opportunity to draw upon your technical expertise and experience, whilst acting as an influential ambassador across a large organisation. Building relationships, driving change and energising a diverse set of teams.  You will also be able to demonstrate an ability to translate and communicate information security and risk concepts to technical and non-technical audiences (board level and across the organisation), alongside extensive experience of motivating and leading sizeable teams.

We are looking for specific knowledge and understanding of relevant legal and regulatory requirements, such as Payment Card Industry/Data Security Standard and Sarbanes-Oxley Act, alongside knowledge of common information security management frameworks, such as ISO/IEC 27001, ITIL, COBIT and/or those from NIST, including 800-53 and Cybersecurity Framework
