Everyone is very friendly and always happy to help. There is always support available at all levels.

Describe the culture

It is a very pet and people focused culture. Everyone likes to get involved in community events.

What do you get up to on a typical day/week?

I do all the driver training for LGV and small vans across the country, including looking at driving styles. This includes us doing manual handling equipped training for drivers who operate them.

Tell us about the learning and development?

I am currently doing driver CPC. This is a learning and development programme set by the EU to help drivers in their everyday life. It also helps improve and promote road safety and a healthy life style.

What opportunities are there for career progression?

All vacancies are open to everyone, from drivers to first line managers. Warehouse colleagues can apply for ‘Warehouse to Wheels’, which enables them to gain an LGV class 1 licence.

Tell us about the rewards and benefits?

Colleagues are rewarded regularly for doing a good job, such as being given Nibbles/vouchers which can be spent at the canteen, online shopping or you can save them until you have enough to have a further day’s holiday.

How does Pets at Home give back to the community?

We work with local schools, guides and scouts to educate children on road safety. We also have various charity events that run throughout the year.
