What’s the best thing about working here?
The family feel atmosphere in stores and the support network is great, whether it be a work issue or a personal issue. We help our colleagues deliver the best service to all of our great customers, ensuring they get the welcome they deserve. Everyone listens and understands the customers’ needs and suggests the correct products for the purpose required.
Describe the culture
Pets at Home is a great, fun place to work with a good variety of tasks where we really do put pets first.
What do you get up to on a typical day/week?
My roles consist of looking after colleagues and ensuring they understand their role and have the knowledge they need to help customers. I am also in charge of the stock in stores ensuring we have the correct amount of stock by adjusting minimum levels to make sure we always have products available. I like to make work fun!
Tell us about the learning and development?
Learning is primarily done on our training website ‘Pet Pawstar’ which is accessible from home, if you decide to research or improve your knowledge on a particular area. Development is a key part of our business with the majority of managers being internally promoted.
What opportunities are there for career progression?
There is always opportunity to progress here, with us still expanding and opening stores and groomers across the country. If you have the will you can succeed at Pets at Home. It’s also possible to migrate across services at Pets at Home.
Tell us about the rewards and benefits?
The biggest reward and benefit to me is that we are a great, supportive and fun company to work for with the added pleasure of working with animals. We also get restaurant and Thorpe Park discounts, cheap cinema tickets, childcare vouchers, cycle to work scheme, colleague performance bonuses and a great pay scale with opportunities to increase your pay through learning.
How does Pets at Home give back to the community?
Pets at Home is in a fantastic position where we have our own charity, Support Adoption for Pets. With this we re-home animals in stores but also we partner with many local re-homing centres who we help support through fundraising. So we also hold fun workshops for children in the local area.
