What’s the best thing about working here?

It has given me the opportunity to get a dog, something I would never have been able to do with a different business and is something I have wanted since I can remember.

It’s fun, friendly and everyone is like a huge family, from store colleagues to execs, we work together.

What do you get up to on a typical day/week?

In a typical week I deal with queries from all around the business. Employee benefits is my main roles, discount cards, long service awards, annual leave queries, our hardship grants… the list is endless. As well as assisting any of the people advisers with any work they have, helping me to gain knowledge and experience to progress in the future.

Tell us about the learning and development?

We have a whole training team who put on courses for everyone in the business, as well as the opportunity to go on workshops and courses outside of the business.

What opportunities are there for career progression?

I am gaining knowledge and experience daily, with my manager giving me extra responsibility on a regular basis to push me in the direction I want to go.

Tell us about the rewards and benefits?

The benefits are vast and range from discount in store, discounts at other retailers and the ability to take your dog into the office. The hardship grant is for colleagues who might find themselves in a difficult situation. You are able to take your birthday off as holiday. We have the retail trust who offer support in finance or any other difficult situation you might find yourself in.

How does Pets at Home give back to the community?

In store there are many different workshops that take place for children to learn about animals, support adoption charity and there are work experience opportunities.
